So its time to catch up the ICC T20 worldcup. Its between the two gaints of cricket from subcontinent. This is a much awaited clash of the finals and it is Sri Lanka and Pakistan who are contenders for the title.
Pakistan are in the final courtesy Shahid Afridis superb performance in the semi final against the famed South Africans who once again choked. If it was about handling pressure Pakistan handled it better. If it was about handling spin South Africa could not handle that particular department well. Surprisingly it is the older players of Pakistan who raised their hands when it mattered most. Does it make any sense to the Indians where experience and talent and technique were put on the back seat.
Sri Lanka whom we have backed from the beginning have really cruised to the finals and probably the only worthy contender who can challenge them is Pakistan whom they have beaten in the super eight stage. Unlike Sri Lanka who’ve cruised into the finals Pakistan had a chequered beginning first losing to England and then to Sri Lanka. But they have shown that when they are cornered they can and will fight back.
Unlike Pakistan which has become a one man army, Sri Lanka has genuine match winners in both the departments. But you have to give full marks to the bowlers of Sri Lanka- Lasith Malinga, Ajantha Mendis and the good old Muttaiah Muralidhara. The wealth of experience shows in the batting line up and even youngster like Mathews making his presence felt when it really mattered.
The favorites as per us are Sri Lanka and if they get the wicket of Afridi early it will be a walk over for the Lankans. Reebok will surely have the last laugh with Nike and Adidas biting the dust.
