Nikon Announces New Nikon D3000:Specifications

The best kept secret of Nikon is finally out with the announcement of the Nikon D 3000 along with the new D300 S. I do not know if I have missed all the future offerings of Nikon by not visiting Nikon Rumours.

The Nikon D3000 is an entry level D SLR that would be competing with Olympus E 620 and the Panasonic G1. What surprised me was that it is using the CCD sensors, so you should check out the noise parameters specially of the luminance due to IR interference and may be not much of the chrominance variety. If you have already become the video enthusiast then this is not for you, more likely the D 300 S.

The D3000 seems to have been built with the enthusiast in mind where there is a special mode called the “Guide Mode” which takes through the process of settings step by step. This I am sure will be welcomed by all enthusiasts. Apart from this Nikon seems to have taken a few leaves off from Olympus where it adds certain special effects to your photographs. This is provided in the Retouch menu and not special filters. The specifications are given below:
