There are several apps that you can install and uninstall on your iPhone according to your preferences and their usage value to enhance your iPhone performance to its optimum level. Now, you can easily install or uninstall apps in co-ordination with the .deb file on your iPhone, provided you have jailbreaked and established SSH on your iPhone.
Therefore, you have jailbreaked an iPhone with SSH installed and you have can access the file system of your iPhone completely without any hassles. .deb files are compressed data files that you can expand in a simple method (s) when you satisfy the above conditions and follow the universal process of installing and uninstalling .deb file to your iPhone 2G, 3G or 3GS variations.
Globally, there are only two methods that allow you to install a .deb file but I would highly recommend the first method which much longer than the second method because it is more reliable than the latter one.
.deb File Installation – Method One:
- Initially, SSH into your iPhone using the iPhoneTunnel if your on Windows and Cyberduck if your on Mac Operating System
- Next, copy .deb file into the tmp folder
- You need to quit Cydia if its running
- Hit Ctrl+T in WinSCP and run the following command : dpkg -i /tmp/name.deb (here you need to make sure that you replace the file name: name.deb with the actual name of the deb file)
- Finally, after installation, you can delete the .deb file itself
.deb File Installation – Second Method:
- Initially, SSH your iPhone and go to var or root or Media or Cydia or Auto-install Copy the .deb file there and then reboot your device. Note: If Auto-install folder is not lying in var or root or Media or Cydia then you can create it yourself
Uninstalling .deb File:
When you want to uninstall the .deb file, you simply need to uninstall the app you installed via .deb file. You can also use Cydia, Icy or Cydelete to uninstall from springboard.
The process has been explained briefly to help you in using your iPhone conveniently, while installing and uninstalling .deb file on to your iPhone device.
