Where has my disk space gone?Less Free Space in drive or Volume low

Many people are bothered about their new desktop or notepad eating up all the space but no program or data is identified that consumes all the data in their new system. This happened with my friend also when she got a new laptop for herself. It is IBM powered LENOVO T60 Notepad. She couldn’t understand where has her disk space gone. she neither has huge data files nor movies or songs, But the Free disk space is too low. She fed up finding the reason and consulted me. i have noted all those lenovo thinkpad files that are not necessary for her and removed them. Similarly, many of you might be wondering about the disk space. So here is my quick review and tips of general programs that eat up your disk space.
1. ) Extraction time, Windows 7 itself to take over the clean install 5GB, 10GB and upward if it is pre-installed copy from the manufacturer. This is normal. drive
2. ) If you are upgrading from a previous version or install another version of Windows on the same partition, look for folder WINDOWS.OLD local hard drive. (Usually C: ) will contain the previously installed programs, documents and so on, must be installed to move. You need to replicate / want and delete the rest.

3. ) System Restore can reserve a lot of space (up to 15% of the capacity of the drive) for saving restore points, especially if you support the Windows Volume Shadow copy of a copy of 7. Unlike in XP, there are no simple options, adjust the slider of the biggest use of space, but you can still do so, use the command line. To achieve this, press the Windows + R and type the command followed by the Enter key. ) When the command prompt, type the following command, enter the correct drive letter and intends size: vssadmin adjustment shadowstorage / for = C of: / on = C’s: / maxsize = 5GB (this is just one example – be sure to enter the needed to drive and the maximum size you wish.)

4. ) IBM and Lenovo, including emergency response and recovery system, which can automatically back up critical documents using the System Restore. While this is in order to protect your data loss may take up considerable hard disk space, more than the 50GB in some cases. If this proved to be problematic, you can disable this feature by visiting the ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery tools, and uncheck the “Schedule Backup” check box, and according to set schedules and preferences. Then, you will be able to recover lost space, access to advanced preferences and use the “delete backup” option. CNET in particular would like to thank the members of the rimb1172 this issue to our attention.

5. ) Recycle Bin can take up space, and, so right-click it, select Properties, to allow the necessary capacity to adjust.

6. ) System paging file (also known as virtual memory or ‘swap’ file) also occupied hard disk space, but we recommend that you let Windows continue to manage, as it thinks fit. Restrictions it can reduce system performance and the cause of ‘virtual memory’ error message.

7. ) In the little-known fact is that there are two different definitions, terminology trillion, Gigabyte, etc. In short, the hard disk drive manufacturer said, 1GB of equivalent to 10 ^ 9 bytes, and Windows is based on a view that the 1GB equal 2 ^ 30 bytes (1 gibibyte technical, rather than a Gigabyte). As a result, a 100GB hard drive will be reported as 93GB of Windows operating system. You do not have to cheat, this is a different definition.

8. ) Finally, but certainly not least, personal files, downloading may take hundreds of Gold Bauhinia Star. To identify areas in which most of the use of space, I suggest the free program TreeSize. With a few clicks you should be able to find the source, and delete if you wish.

How to Repair Bad Sectors in Your Hard Disk

Many a time your files on the Hard Disk could get corrupt due to malfunctioning of your hard disk. The hard disk is partitioned and then divided into platters and sectors where your files are saved. Any of these sectors getting corrupt due to virus or by its usage will lead to erasure of your files partially by which you will lose your data.

To find out which part of  the memory of your computer is functioning well and which parts have become defunct, you first have to back up all your data by making a separate copy of it. The utility with which you can check the memory of your computer is called “Check Disk” in Windows. Check Disk will first carry out Integrity checks of your memory where the data in the sectors that may be bad will be over written. To run the check disk utility :

  • Select “My Computer”.
  • Right Click on the partition “C” or “D”.
  • Click on “Properties”.
  • Click on “Tools”
  • Select “Error checking”
  • Select “Check Now”.
  • You will get three options which are “Check Disk Options”, “Automatically Fix File Errors”, “Scanning and Recovery of Bad Sectors”

The procedure for scanning and setting the memory right would have to be taken step by step and partition by partition. After which you can load all your data from back up on to the memory.

How to Install Virtual Apps on iPhone?

The beauty of iPhone virtual apps is that real and virtual worlds collide in a big way. It is one of the most amazing augmented reality applications that will begin appearing for the iPhone 3GS. The iPhone virtual apps overlays some useful info on your view of the real world using the iPhone’s camera. It makes use of common features including, an internet connection and GPS, but because they also utilize a compass, only users of the new iPhone 3GS will be able to install it. My favorite is this concept of an application that proposes to use facial recognition to overlay people’s social networking profiles when the application is engaged.

In computer parlances, VNC or Virtual Networking Computing is a graphical desk top system that uses the RFB protocol to remotely control another computer. Now, with the help of Veency, which is a free app, a similar thing can be done with a Jailbraked iPhone developed by Jay Freeman Saurik, the master mind behind Cydia. It allows iPhone owners to remotely control their iPhone from the comfort of their PC or Mac desktop via a VNC client. All you need is to install Veency through Cydia or ICY and then restart your iPhone. Windows users should check out UltraVNC or TightVNC, while Mac OS X users have the excellent prototype of the VNC.

Install & Use Veency for iPhone:

  • Firstly, install Veency from Cydia or ICY and reboot or restart your iPhone.
  • Next, go to the home screen and then to the Settings tool. Therafter, click Wi-Fi, then the arrow to the right of your home connection and note the IP address listed there.
  • Now, all you need is a VNC client to connect to your device. Windows users should check out UltraVNC or TightVNC, while Mac OS X users have the excellent prototype of the VNC.
  • Finally, open your client; enter the iPhone’s IP address as the host, then pick up your device. You will see a prompt to accept or reject the connection from your computer’s IP address.
  • Hit “Accept,” and you’ll notice a small VNC icon in the upper-right, near the battery indicator and the installation is complete.

Note: You must use iPhone mods and hacks at your own risk because installing third Party iPhone apps require you to jailbreak the iPhone before installing the native software and apps.
