The second of the Group F matches between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played at the Lord’s on June 12th.
This is a crucial match in the Group F because both Pakistan and Sri Lanka were toppers in their respective groups. Pundits had expected Sri Lanka to go into Group F by losing to West Indies at the group stage but Sri Lanka had other plans. Sri Lanka has been criticized that it does not have a finisher in their team. If Sanath Jayasuriya clicks in a match that will leave one of either Sangakkara or Mahela Jayawardhane to stay on till the end of the game. That gives them flexibility and both of them are good finishers of the game and it gives freedom to Tilakaratne Dilshan to play his shots as an opener with out pressure. As for the youngsters De Silva and Jehan Mubarak, Mubarak has especially shown that he is not in awe of great bowlers including Bret Lee.
Sri Lanka has already won two matches at the group stage while Pakistan has won only one. Sri Lanka will no doubt want to keep the momentum going and Pakistan will see an opportunity to come back in to the tournament.
The Pakistani pace attack lacks the sting to trouble the Sri Lankan batsmen. It will also be eagerly watched as to how the Pakistani batsmen will handle Ajantha Mendis and Lasith Malinga not to mention Muttaiah Muralidharan. The depth in the btting will be tested as wickets will tumble and they have to decide and execute whom to go after and when to.

The first of the Group E matches of the super eight commences today. The picture of composition is clear today after the out come of West Indies vs Sri Lanka is known. Pakistan is the other member of Group F which has emerged on top in its Group by virtue of its convincing victory over Holland. Whether it can perform the same way against teams that have class has to be seen. England having stood second in its group by virtue of its run rate has been placed in this group. India having emerged on top of its group has been clubbed with South Africa.
South Africa is undoubtedly on top if its group and is expected to breeze through to the semi final and it is clear by now that given the opportunities that England had it is incapable of creating an upset to gain a semi final berth. To compound the problems of the countries in this group West Indies have also been placed in this group. Could it be because West Indies tried to play it smart by losing to Sri Lanka. The official version is not yet known.
South African batting has solidity in the opening partnership of Jack kallis and Graeme Smith. When Graeme Smith fails to create an impression in the first six overs it is kallis who has been accelerating the score with some good cricketing shots. The middle order of South Africa is then capable of stepping on the gas. Right down to Mark Boucher the South Africans are capable of playing some hard cricket.

The ICC T20 World Cup has entered the super eight stage. By now we know the composition of the groups E and F. The match between West Indies and Sri Lanka has ended the suspense of who will emerge on top in their group. The West Indies failed to tackle the bowling attack of the Sri Lankans and thus lost the match, The Sri Lankans breezed into Group F as the topper of the C Group. But then this is T20 and we can never predict the out come of a match until the last ball.
Look what happened to a low scoring match between South Africa and New Zealand. New Zealand lost the match by a single run and thus landed in Group F. May be it was the absence of their captain Daniel Vetttori. But in the final run New Zea Land will be happy to be in Group F because the other team in Group F is Pakistan which New Zealand will not mind at all.
That brings us to this match between Ireland and New Zealand. Ireland managed to squeak through into this group courtesy their win against Pakistan. But that was not good enough to take them as toppers to Group F because of net run rate where the Pakistanis fared better.
The Black Caps are expected to do well and will win this match with out any consternation..

This is the last of the group matches of Group B. Both India and Ireland have one their match against Bangladesh and both will clash for the first and second position in the group.
India will doubtlessly try and win this match. But Dhoni should think of providing some match practice to Suresh Raina and Yousuf Pathan who’ve not had a go in the last match. Yuvraj’s 41 off 18 balls was an invaluable contribution that took away the match from Bangladesh. Although Gautam Gambhir scored a fifty he should think of accelerating the run rate.
Dhoni was not convincing in his batting and he should think of letting Suresh Raina come at number 3 in this match. Pragyan Ojha made a rich haul of 3 wickets against Bangladesh and he would be expected to turn his wrist once again.
If India wins this match the tough part will start then because in the super eight it is placed with probably West Indies and the loser of South Africa and New Zealand. This probably is the toughest group and all the more reason why the key batsmen should get some match practice before going in to the super eight clash.

The Australians have made their exit from the tournament with their defeat to both West Indies and Sri Lanka. With West Indies it was simply the batting of the openers Chris Gayle and Andre Fletcher which put the Australians out of business. In the second match with Sri Lanka the Australians simply did not have the answer against the bowling of Ajantha Mendis and Lasith Malinga. Australia could put up only a total of 159 for the loss of 9 wickets. Such was the regularity of the fall of wickets that except Mitchell Johnson supported by David Hussey no Australian batsman could convincingly score against the Sri lankans.
The match between Sri Lanka and West Indies will be played at the Trent Bridge and will commence at 0030 hrs on 10 June. This is an interesting match because more than the winner of this match the loser of this match will benefit and proceed to Group F where the only other good team will be the winner of the match between South Africa and New Zealand and they will be assured of a berth in semi finals.
So, both Sri Lanka and West Indies should not worry and we can expect a good contest between the bat and the ball.

This match will be played at Lords on 09 June at 0030 GMT. Considering the way England clawed its way back into the game, Pakistan will hope to do the same. They will also be hoping to do it in style because the run rates may decide the seedings in this group. dutch-paki
Netherlands had only won by whisker that too on the last ball. But they still have a positive run rate. If they manage a decent net run rate then even if they lose this match they might end up higher than Pakistan. So not only has Pakistan to win this match but win it in a convincing manner.
If the match is close match then Pakistan is out.We hope Pakistan does put up a good display.
