7-Zip File Manager

7-Zip File Manager is located under the start menu which can be retrieved by just typing “7″ (without the quotes) into the search box.

The default view doesn’t go out of sight every time you browse into another folder. You can even browse down into any archive including, zip, rar, iso and similar files as if it was a folder. You can enable a dual pane mode by using the View menu, so that you can drag or drop the files back and forth between the panes. You can also quickly access the folders and setup Favorites that even have hot keys associated to them which makes finding that deeply nested folder in a nano second.

The options panel is inter spread with a couple of really useful options that can not be enabled by default. You can show the real file icons similarly, as Explorer does, enable the regular explorer system menu and set full row selection.

Also, when you browse to a folder, but then forget which one it was, you can use the Alt+F12 shortcut key (or through the View menu) you can bring up the Folders History dialog, which saves everywhere that you browsed.

The context menu for files already has powerful capabilities embedded including, a hack to add the Copy To / Move To options to Explorer, but it’s something that is mandatory.

The screen shot is also a very useful option to create a new folder with a hot key that is similar to something you can only do in Explorer with a plugin.
